You always hear about how you should check up on your friends and what if you’re the friend who checks up on everyone else. Will anyone ever check up on you? I have been waiting for 10 years for a friend to check up on me, a family member, someone to care. I am waiting for the day that someone will finally ask how i’m doing because it’s honestly bullshit how one-sided everything in this life has been.
So instead of continuing to have a sob story, I’m going to be okay with not being okay. I’m going to make the strongest relationship with myself because I need to. If no one can be there for me, why ask? I’d rather scream into a void to let some emotion out than ask someone who wont care to check in again until I’m broken down on the floor crying about how miserable I feel all the time and I reach out to them. This is no longer a sad story because I’m done waiting for others, I’m done waiting for anyone but myself and I’m okay with that.
I don’t know everything about this issue but I’ll try to share all I know/have read.
An indian comedian named Munawar Faruqui was arrested in the middle of his stand up show for a joke he was “ about to make ” by police because the son of a BJP minister filed a complaint.
The joke to be said was going to be about a religion/god and would’ve hurted religious sentiments of some people according to the person who got him arrested.
Noone knows what the joke was and there’s still no proof as to why was he even arrested.
He’s been in jail for weeks now for something he didn’t even say. The court even rejected his bail multiple times. The Indian constitution says everyone has a right to speech and are treated equally and it’s clearly violated here by the govt itself.
And there are some other Indian comedians too who make jokes like Munawar did (like Kunal Kamra and Vir Das), but they never got arrested. And the only difference here is that they were Hindus and Munawar is a muslim.
And then they call india secular and the biggest democracy.
